Your Private Surgical Retreat

Meridian Plastic Surgery Center is a state-licensed, Medicare-certified ambulatory surgery facility located at 170 West 106th Street in Carmel, Indiana, serving patients throughout Indianapolis and central Indiana. The center is owned and operated by Dr. R. Luke Sturgill, a double board-certified facial plastic surgeon and Medical Director, who completed his fellowship under Dr. Stephen W. Perkins.

The facility is dedicated exclusively to plastic surgery, and all anesthesia is administered by board-certified MD anesthesiologists — never CRNAs — providing the highest level of patient safety for every procedure.

Meridian Plastic Surgery Center was designed from the ground up to feel nothing like a hospital. From the moment you walk through our doors, you'll notice the difference — warm lighting, a quiet lobby with no crowded waiting room, and a team that already knows your name. Every detail of our facility, from the private pre-operative suites to the luxury overnight recovery rooms, was chosen to make your experience feel personal, calm, and unhurried.

This isn't an outpatient department tucked inside a hospital. There are no emergency room sirens, no rotating staff, no assembly-line scheduling. When you're here, you are our only focus. Your surgeon, your anesthesiologist, and your nursing team are dedicated entirely to you — and our state licensure and Medicare certification mean this private experience is backed by the same rigorous safety standards required of hospitals.

Hospital-Grade Safety, Boutique Setting

You shouldn't have to choose between a beautiful environment and a safe one. Our center holds both state licensure and Medicare certification — the same federal safety standards required of hospitals — while offering the warmth and privacy of a boutique facility. Regular inspections confirm what you'll feel the moment you arrive: this is a place built to the highest standards, designed to put you at ease.

Anesthesia Excellence

Your comfort during surgery starts with the person managing your anesthesia. At Meridian, that's always a board-certified MD anesthesiologist — a physician specialist with four years of medical school plus a four-year residency. We never use CRNAs. Your anesthesiologist meets with you beforehand, tailors your plan to your body and your procedure, and stays with you from the first moment of sedation through your recovery. It's a level of personal, physician-led care you won't find at most facilities.

Private Overnight Recovery

After an extended procedure like a deep plane facelift, the last thing you want is to recover in a shared hospital ward under fluorescent lights. Our private overnight suites offer a completely different experience — think plush bedding, soft lighting, and your own dedicated recovery nurse at your side through the night. She manages your medications, monitors your comfort, and makes sure you have everything you need. It's recovery that actually feels restful.

Purpose-Built for Plastic Surgery

Unlike a hospital OR that handles everything from appendectomies to joint replacements, every piece of equipment in our surgical suites was selected specifically for plastic surgery. Advanced monitoring systems, precision electrosurgical instruments, and meticulous sterilization protocols all work together so Dr. Sturgill can focus entirely on artistry and technique — not on working around equipment designed for someone else's specialty.

Your Day With Us

From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave, every touchpoint has been designed to feel personal, private, and calm. Here's how your day unfolds.

1

Arrival & Check-In

No clipboard at a reception window. Our team greets you by name at the door and walks you directly to your own private pre-operative suite — quiet, comfortable, and yours alone.

2

Pre-Operative Preparation

Dr. Sturgill sits with you — not rushes through — to review your plan, answer any last questions, and mark your treatment areas. Your anesthesiologist introduces himself, walks through your anesthesia plan, and makes sure you feel completely comfortable before anything begins.

3

Your Procedure

You're walked — not wheeled on a gurney through a busy hallway — to our surgical suite. The room is quiet. Your team is already there: Dr. Sturgill, your anesthesiologist, and your surgical nurse, focused entirely on you.

4

Recovery & Discharge

You wake up in a private recovery suite. Your dedicated nurse is right there, managing your comfort from the very first moment. For longer procedures, our overnight suites let you rest through the night with one-on-one care.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our private surgical facility and what to expect.

Is Meridian Plastic Surgery Center accredited?
Yes. We hold both state licensure from the Indiana State Board of Health and Medicare certification, which means our private facility meets the same federal safety standards required of hospitals. We undergo regular inspections to maintain these certifications — so you get a boutique experience with hospital-grade oversight.
Who administers anesthesia during my surgery?
Every procedure at Meridian is supported by a board-certified MD anesthesiologist — a physician specialist with eight years of post-graduate training. We never use CRNAs. Your anesthesiologist meets with you before surgery, personalizes your plan, and stays with you from sedation through recovery.
What is the difference between a surgery center and a hospital for plastic surgery?
The biggest difference is how the experience feels. At Meridian, you have a dedicated team focused only on you, a quiet private environment with no ER traffic or rotating staff, the same anesthesiologist and nurses every time, and one-on-one recovery care in your own suite. Patients who've had surgery in both settings consistently tell us it's not even a comparison.
Do you offer overnight stays after surgery?
Yes. Our private overnight suites are available for patients who need extended recovery, particularly after procedures like deep plane facelifts. You'll have your own room with a dedicated nurse by your side all night — managing medications, checking on your comfort, and making sure you can rest peacefully. It's a far cry from a hospital ward.
What safety measures are in place at your surgery center?
Our facility is state-licensed and Medicare-certified, every procedure is supported by a board-certified MD anesthesiologist, and our surgical suites are equipped with advanced monitoring and sterilization technology. But safety here isn't just about credentials — it's about focus. With a small, dedicated team and no competing caseloads, we can give your procedure the undivided attention it deserves.
How should I prepare for my surgery day?
You will receive detailed pre-operative instructions tailored to your specific procedure. Generally, patients should avoid eating or drinking after midnight before surgery, arrange for a responsible adult to drive them home and stay with them the first night, wear loose and comfortable clothing (button-down shirts are ideal), and discontinue blood-thinning medications as directed by Dr. Sturgill during your pre-operative consultation.
Can a family member stay with me during recovery?
Absolutely. Your family is welcome to wait in our comfortable lounge during your procedure, and we'll keep them updated throughout. For overnight patients, the private, quiet setting makes it easy for loved ones to be nearby without the chaos of a hospital. We know having your people close matters.
What types of procedures are performed at Meridian Plastic Surgery Center?
Dr. Sturgill personally performs every surgery at Meridian. Our procedures include Extended Deep Plane Face and Neck Lifts, Rhinoplasty, Eyelid Surgery, Endoscopic Brow Lifts, Lip Lifts and Perioral Rejuvenation, and Facial Fat Grafting — each in our private surgical suite with a team assembled specifically for your case.
What happens if there is a complication during surgery?
Our facility is fully equipped with advanced monitoring, emergency protocols, and a board-certified MD anesthesiologist present for every procedure. State licensure and Medicare certification require that we maintain the same emergency preparedness standards as hospitals. We're also located minutes from major hospitals in the unlikely event a transfer is needed.
